Multisensory learning is learning that involves two or more of the senses ( visual- auditory- kinesthetic- motor) in the same activity.
The human brain has evolved to create neural pathways and learn in multisensory environments. Hence, it is effective for learning.
Reading works magic for acquiring knowledge!
Pre K - Grade 2: Learning to Read
Grade 3 onwards: Reading to Learn
Third grade marks a pivot point in reading. Research shows that effective phonics instruction is vital to students’ literacy success. However, struggling readers rarely catch up with their peers academically. The good news is almost all children can learn to read at grade level—researchers put the number at 95 per cent, but not all children have access to these advantages.
The Orton-Gillingham Approach is focused upon the learning needs of the individual student to work at their level by pacing instruction and the introduction of new materials to their individual strengths and weaknesses, with a multi-sensory approach.
